Etta Place Cider is Utah’s first orchard-based hard cider producer. We produce award-winning alcohol and offer our guests adult beverages, fine foods and vacation experiences through our tours and tastings. Our team takes pride in sharing our enthusiasm for local food, beverages and Capitol Reef Country history and information with our guests. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: The Taproom Bartender is a team-oriented individual who represents Etta Place Cidery (EPC) with dedication and a passion for craft cider. Taproom Bartenders are responsible for creating a welcoming environment for EPC customers by providing industry leading service. This is accomplished with a customer first attitude, being knowledgeable about craft cider and being passionate about EPC and its products. Taproom Responsibilities: (Additional responsibilities may be required)
  • Sell packaged cider and merchandise to EPC customers.
  • Prepare and sell cider cocktails and other menu items.
  • Acquire and maintain intimate knowledge of all our cider options. Educate guests about our ciders, orchards and brand.
  • Maintain a clean and safe bar, taproom, outdoor seating area and restrooms.
  • Wash and sanitize glassware.
  • Answer the phone and take messages as needed.
  • Independently complete taproom opening and closing procedures.
  • Assist in maintaining proper inventory of merchandise.
  • Change kegs.
  • Check IDs and ensure compliance with all laws regarding safe service of alcohol.
  • Provide exceptional customer service to all Taproom Patrons.
  • Resolve customer complaints satisfactorily.
  • Maintains a positive and friendly work environment.
  • Attend occasional team building meetings where employees are given ongoing service/cider training.
Desired Minimum Qualifications:
  • Must be over 21 years old.
  • No degree required.
  • Certified Cider Professional certificate or equivalent strongly desired.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to interact with customers and coworkers in a professional manner.
  • Excellent organization and coordination skills. Able to manage priorities and routine functions effectively and efficiently.
  • Decision making skills – collect, assess, and interpret relevant information and make sound judgment.
  • Basic computer literacy. This position requires the regular use of a tablet for the point of sale system.
  • Able to work late nights and weekends.
  • Inspires co-workers to work effectively as a team.
  • Complete and pass an approved Alcohol Server Training prior to beginning work; maintain and up-to-date certification.
  • Enthusiasm for the Etta brand experience.
Physical Demands:  This position requires an individual who works under a range of circumstances, including: shift work, weekend work, working with challenging patrons, working in the fast-paced environment of a crowded taproom and outdoor patio, and working within close proximity of an operating cidery (noise, heavy equipment, odors related to the fermentation process). The Taproom Bartender will likely be required to stand for extended periods of time when fulfilling taproom operations. S/He may also be required to lift boxes 35-50 lbs and move empty / full kegs with the help of a dolly.

Etta Place Cider is Utah’s first orchard-based hard cider producer. We produce award-winning alcohol and offer our guests adult beverages, fine foods and vacation experiences through our tours and tastings. Our team takes pride in sharing our enthusiasm for local food, beverages and Capitol Reef Country history and information with our guests. We are seeking a part-time ciderhand to join us. Duties are divided between retail/taproom and production operations.

Retail: provide excellent customer service to our guests, including educating customers about our products, production process and orchards; booking tours and tastings; accurate cash register operation, maintaining general cleanliness of public areas, and restocking products. Prepare outgoing shipments. Will verify age for alcohol purchases.

Taproom: assist with food preparation and occasional service. May lead tours and guided tastings.

Production: may assist in bottling, labeling, cleaning and sanitation. May participate in sensory analysis activities as part of a team during product development and staff training.

Desired Minimum Qualifications:

  • Complete and pass an approved Alcohol Server Training prior to beginning work; maintain and up-to-date certification.
  • Enthusiasm for the Etta brand experience.

The ideal candidate will enjoy a rapid-paced work environment, multi-tasking, problem-solving and creating memorable moments of hospitality for our guests. 

Evening and weekend hours are required. Must be able to lift 60 lbs. Must be 21 and able to pass alcohol safe-serve training.
