Etta Place Cider is Utah’s first orchard-based hard cider producer. We produce award-winning alcohol and offer our guests adult beverages, fine foods and vacation experiences through our tours and tastings. Our team takes pride in sharing our enthusiasm for local food, beverages and Capitol Reef Country history and information with our guests.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The Taproom Barback is a team-oriented individual who represents Etta Place Cidery (EPC) with dedication and a passion for craft cider. Taproom Barbacks work under the direction of the lead bartender for the day and are responsible for creating a welcoming environment for EPC customers by providing industry leading service. Depending on experience and completion of training, this individual may be assigned shifts as lead bartender.
Taproom Responsibilities: (Additional responsibilities may be required)
• Sell packaged cider and merchandise to EPC customers.
• Check IDs and ensure compliance with all laws regarding safe service of alcohol.
• Maintain a clean and safe bar, taproom, outdoor seating area and restrooms.
• Wash and sanitize glassware.
• Answer the phone and take messages as needed.
• Prepare food menu items and bar garnishes.
• Acquire and maintain intimate knowledge of all our cider options. Educate guests about our ciders, orchards and brand.
• Independently complete taproom opening and closing procedures.
• Assist in maintaining proper inventory of merchandise.
• Change kegs.
• Provide exceptional customer service to all Taproom Patrons.
• Resolve customer complaints satisfactorily.
• Maintains a positive and friendly work environment.
• Attend occasional team building meetings where employees are given ongoing service/cider training.
Desired Minimum Qualifications:
• Must be over 21 years old.
• No degree required.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to interact with customers and coworkers in a professional manner.
• Excellent organization and coordination skills. Able to manage priorities and routine functions effectively and efficiently.
Decision making skills – collect, assess, and interpret relevant information and make sound judgment.
• Basic computer literacy. This position requires the regular use of a tablet for the point of sale system.
• Able to work late nights and weekends.
• Inspires co-workers to work effectively as a team.
• Complete and pass an approved Alcohol Server Training and Food Handler permitting prior to beginning work; maintain and up-to-date certification.
• Enthusiasm for the Etta brand experience.
Physical Demands:
This position requires an individual who works under a range of circumstances, including: shift work, weekend work, working with challenging patrons, working in the fast-paced environment of a crowded taproom and outdoor patio, and working within close proximity of an operating cidery (noise, heavy equipment, odors related to the fermentation process). The Taproom Bartender will likely be required to stand for extended periods of time when fulfilling taproom operations. They may also be required to lift 60 lbs and move empty / full kegs with the help of a dolly.
